September 2015 saw Ian tackle the Isle of Man’s Raad ny Foillan, the Way of the Gull. Over a week he walked the 96 mile (155 km) coastal footpath from Castletown to Douglas, encountering the island’s historic isolation, hidden beach campsites and windswept heathland as well as plenty of gulls.
Achieving something of a personal dream, he stumbled upon a message in a bottle on the shoreline approaching the town of Ramsey.
